Emma Doeve: Visualisation Lecture & Workshop

Emma will be presenting our lecture on Visualisation in the Red Room at 12.00pm,

and is joined by Matthew Levi Stevens to lead our workshop on the same in the Red Room at 1.30pm

About Emma Doeve:

First and foremost a fine artist, Emma Doeve is also a writer, researcher, and occultist, primarily concerned with the interface between Magic and the Arts.

Her specialist areas of interest include Austin Osman Spare, the Graeco-Egyptian Magical Papyri, and Occult-inspired Female Surrealist, Leonora Carrington.

In this capacity, Emma has appeared at The Globe Hay-on-Wye, The Horse Hospital London, and a selection of regional Moots. Her artwork has appeared in 13 Knots by Nina Antonia, Chaosphere magazine, various WhollyBooks publications, and online at Salón Arcano and Wiccan Rede.

Emma appears in the forthcoming anthology, Women of Babalon (Black Moon Press), and is at work with her partner, Matthew Levi Stevens, on a Grimoire inspired by the Graeco-Egyptian Magical Papyri.

Lecture: Austin Osman Spare - Man, Myth, & Magick

Emma Doeve will be presenting an introduction to Austin Osman Spare, probably the foremost Artist-Magician of the 20th Century. Examining Spare’s Life & Work from the point of view of both Fine Artist and magical practitioner, Emma will explore some of the sources of his inspiration, describe his mysterious muse and esoteric eroticism, and catalogue some of his individual and highly innovative contributions to both Art & the Occult and the Occult Arts.
